The Silver Screen

For a collector of gelatin prints by "Golden Age" portrait photographer George Hurrell, we injected the masculine lines and sultry materials of Art Deco with a shot of disco to create a private silver screen fantasy. Renovations included removing walls and opening ceilings to create one dramatic bedroom adjoining an enclosed dressing room and en suite bath. The French-polished millwork and mantel was inspired by a Norma Shearer portrait, and motorized panels of Whiting and Davis liquid mesh fabric are set off against high-tech black glitter wall covering.
